WAG IT GAMES SHADOW SKILLS TOURNAMENTS
Tournaments are competitive events with a twist.
Most competitive events have handlers performing with points deducted off of what is considered the perfect performance. In Wag It Games tournaments handlers perform a numbered course choosing exercises to earn points.

Teams perform a numbered course of stations with 3 exercise options - One novice (5 points), one skilled (10 points) and one proficient (15 points). Handlers choose one exercise to perform (pass/fail) at each station to earn points. Exercises are performed per Wag It Games Shadow Skills exercise descriptions. Placements are awarded and titles are available (see below).

INDIVIDUAL AND PAIRS CLASSES

  • Individual classes will be for one handler with one dog to earn points.
  • Pairs classes combine two handlers with their dogs. Each handler will perform the course separately. The two handler’s points are combined.

LEVELS
Tournaments offer three levels. Handlers must earn the required points to qualify and be eligible for placements. Teams earning the same points tie and earn the same placement.

INDIVIDUAL TOURNAMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • TOURNAMENT LEVEL 1 - Requires a minimum score of 75 points.
  • TOURNAMENT LEVEL 2 - Requires a minimum score of 85 points.
  • TOURNAMENT LEVEL 3 - Requires a minimum score of 100 points.

PAIRS TOURNAMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • TOURNAMENT LEVEL 1 - Requires a minimum score of 140 points.
  • TOURNAMENT LEVEL 2 - Requires a minimum score of 160 points.
  • TOURNAMENT LEVEL 3 - Requires a minimum score of 180 points.

THE COURSE
The course will consist of twelve stations.

  • Ten stations will have three exercise options, one novice (5 points), one skilled (10 points) and one proficient (15 points).
  • One Right or Left turn will be included in the course offering no points.
  • One 180 Right, 180 Left Turns will be included in the course offering no points.
  • No exercise will be included more than twice.

 TOURNAMENT RULES

  • Dogs must be registered with Wag It Games to participate.
  • The performance and exercises are judged pass/fail per Wag It Games Shadow Skills Rules.

EXERCISE LISTS, MAPS AND WALK THROUGHS

  • An exercise list may be available prior to the tournament. The list will contain all course exercises and a few additional exercises.
  • Handlers will be offered a map and walk-through period to become familiar with the course and ask questions.

PERFORMANCE

  • Handlers will begin with their dog on their left.
  • Tournament courses are performed off leash.
  • No treats may  be used in the ring.
  • The handler will choose one exercise at each station to have their dog perform earning the corresponding points.
  • Only one exercise attempt per station is allowed.
  • Handlers will have one Mulligan per course. A mulligan is a retry. The handler must announce to the judge “Mulligan” to the judge then re-approach and repeat the exercise performance.

WAG IT GAMES TOURNAMENT TITLES
Titles must be earned in order. Ex. Level 1 before Level 2 before level 3. Champion before Master before Ultimate before Versatility.

INDIVIDUAL TOURNAMENT TITLES

  • TOURNAMENT LEVEL 1 - 3 Qualifying level 1 runs with the minimum points required.
    • Shadow Skills (SSTL1 Individual)
    • Smart Dog (SDTL1 Individual)
  • TOURNAMENT LEVEL 2 - 3 Qualifying level 2 runs with the minimum points required.
    • Shadow Skills (SSTL2 Individual)
    • Smart Dog (SDTL2 Individual)
  • TOURNAMENT LEVEL 3  (SST3) - 3 Qualifying level 3 runs with the minimum points required.
    • Shadow Skills (SSTL3 Individual)
    • Smart Dog (SDTL3 Individual)

PAIRS TOURNAMENT TITLES

  • TOURNAMENT LEVEL 1 - 3 Qualifying level 1 pairs runs with the minimum points required.
    • Shadow Skills (SSTL1 Pairs)
    • Smart Dog (SDTL1 Pairs)
  • TOURNAMENT LEVEL 2 - 3 Qualifying level 2 pairs runs with the minimum points required.
    • Shadow Skills (SSTL2 Pairs)
    • Smart Dog (SDTL2 Pairs)
  • TOURNAMENT LEVEL 3 (SST3) - 3 Qualifying level 3 pairs runs with the minimum points required.
    • Shadow Skills (SSTL3 Pairs)
    • Smart Dog (SDTL3 Pairs)

ADVANCED TITLES
Advanced titles are offered for individual tournament performances.

TOURNAMENT CHAMPION (SSTournament Champion)
Requires three level 1 qualifying runs on different courses at one tournament.

TOURNAMENT MASTER (SSTournament Master)
Requires three level 2 qualifying runs on different courses at one tournament.

TOURNAMENT ULTIMATE (SSTournament Ultimate)
Requires three level 3 qualifying runs on different courses at one tournament.

TOURNAMENT VERSATILITY AWARD (SSTournament Versatility Award)
Requires three Level 3 tournament titles in two different games. Example three Level 3 Shadow Skills and three level 3 Smart Dog Games
